Priorities

Workplace safety

As the safety of our people is of the utmost importance to us, we continuously improve our work by building a culture of safety for our people, our customers and our suppliers where all can feel empowered to do their part.

Diversity & Inclusion

We are proud to have a diverse entry-level workforce and are working to advance equitable representation, opportunities and pay across all parts of the company as they continue to grow together with us in their careers.

Improving wellbeing in the workplace

We continue to strengthen our global initiatives on robbery prevention through enhanced anti-robbery signage, improved HSE training, cash handling systems, upgraded security cameras, and improved energy efficient lighting at stores.

Ambition 2030

Executive Vice President North America & Executive Sponsor for Workplace Safety

Ensuring that our team members and customers feel safe and secure in our stores underpins our license to operate and our commitment to the communities where we live and work. Over the past year, we prioritized workplace safety training and strengthened our global robbery prevention program to help protect our team members, our customers, and the partners who work with us.

Increased commitment to workplace safety as key priority Increased commitment to workplace safety as key priority

We are continuously improving our programs, actions, and training to reduce workplace incidents. Through our gamified training “CK Star”, we have developed a module focused primarily on slip, trip, and fall type injuries. It will help to educate team members on various causes of injury, ways to respond, and give them a sense of mindfulness around their own safety.

Reducing work related incidents Reducing work related incidents

During a year clearly marked by the pandemic, the importance of workplace safety has been brought even more to the forefront: Our Gallup annual engagement survey showed that 81% of our people feel safe at work during these challenging times. In a specific Covid-19 pulse survey leadership also received top marks for communications and helping team members feel prepared to do their job.

Creating conditions for an inclusive organization

We strive to be an inclusive and attractive employer, providing our people with a work environment where they feel safe, respected, and able to develop their full potential. We’re working to advance equitable representation, opportunities and pay across the organization as our people continue growing with us in their careers.

We aim to foster a culture that allows team members of all backgrounds to bring their authentic selves to work    and grow in their careers. To this end, our voluntary employee-led Business Resource Groups, or BRGs, play a significant role in encouraging courageous conversations, raising awareness about unconscious bias, and sharing experiences across our network. Recognizing team members’ unique perspectives and celebrating their diverse backgrounds is essential to creating a truly inclusive workforce.
